Rabbit in Ear of Nelson Mandela Statue Sparks Outrage
The South African government said it wanted to "restore dignity back to the statue" , which was unveiled after the former president's death last month.
The sculptors are said to have secretly placed the rabbit – their trademark signature – into the statue's right ear.
They also wanted it to denote the speed in which they carved the statue, as rabbit in the Afrikaans language is "haas", which also means haste.
9-metre bronze statue of Nelson Mandela is unveiled as part of the Day of Reconciliation Celebrations at the Union Buildings in Pretoria
Statue: The Nelson Mandela sculpture in Pretoria
Global hero Mr Mandela, who died at the age of 95, was widely acclaimed for his role in fighting white minority rule and promoting reconciliation after being elected South Africa's first black president in 1994.
The bronze statue was unveiled on December 16, the day after Mr Mandela was buried, at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
Mandela's hands reach out as if embracing the whole nation.
Big Pic: Rabbit in Mandela's ear
A spokesman for the Department of Arts and Culture, said the artists Andre Prinsloo and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, had apologised for any offence caused to the government and Mr Mandela's family.
They said they had added the rabbit after the culture department had refused to allow them to engrave their signatures on the trousers of the statue.
LASU shut Down
This decision was contained in a bulletin, dated 23rd January, 2013, titled LASU management Closes University indefinitely.
The statement reads, "In the wake of the violent protest by some affected students of Lagos State University (LASU) over the closure of the university portal for registration of courses for rain semester 2012/2013 examination, the university management has decided to shut down the university indefinitely. Also, examinations have been put off till further notice.
With this decision, students are expected to vacate the university premises until further notice".
It will be recalled that the students staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday, 22nd January over the closure of the portal but the protest became violent on Thursday.
This came a day after the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji lauded the students' union for using the e-voting system to elect their officers and advised the Prof. Jega led Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to take a cue from the students and organize a credible e-voting elections in the country comes 2015.

Justin Bieber Arrested for DUI Drag Racing
Arrested for DUI Drag Racing and Resisting Arrest
Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI early Thursday morning and it wasn't pretty -- cops say Justin was wasted and resisted arrest and cussed the cop out, dropping multiple F bombs ... TMZ has learned. Justin posed for a smiley mug shot moments after the arrest -- while sporting what appears to be a jail-issued orange jumpsuit. Law enforcement tells us ... Bieber was busted in Miami Beach and it didn't end with DUI ... he was also busted for resisting arrest without violence, drag racing and driving on an expired license.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... they believe Justin was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol. In fact, officials held a news conference and said, "[Justin] made statements he had consumed some alcohol, been smoking marijuana and consumed some prescription medication."According to the police report -- obtained by TMZ -- cops approached Bieber's car and they instantly realized he reeked of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.
He had a "stupor" look on his face. The police report says ... Bieber was defiant from the get-go, yelling at the cops, "Why the f**k are you doing this?" He also yelled, "What the f**k did I do. Why did you stop me?"When the officer tried to perform a routine pat down, Bieber said, "I ain't got no f**king weapons, why do you have to search me? What the f**k is this about?" Bieber claimed he wasn't drunk and coming back from recording music. That's not true, because we knew he was at a club. Now the basis for the resisting arrest charge.
Before the pat down, as Bieber got out of the car, he "kept going into his pants pocket." The cop ordered him to put his hands on the vehicle, and Bieber initially complied but soon took his hands off the car, turned and then cussed out the cop. The cop then grabbed Justin by the right arm, Justin pulled his arm away, and said, "What the f**k are you doing?"The report says Justin was driving between 55 and 60 MPH in a 30 MPH residential area.Bieber is now in custody and is at the police department where he is being tested -- presumably to more precisely measure his blood alcohol level.
Our law enforcement sources say Justin was given a field sobriety test at the scene ... and failed. His next stop will be jail, where he will be booked and processed and bail will be set. We're told Bieber had just left SET nightclub and was driving a yellow Lamborghini at the time cops spotted him in a residential neighbourhood.
Our sources say Justin's people actually blocked the street off so Bieber could drag race.Sources say the person Justin was racing was also arrested. We're told that driver was Khalil, a well-known rapper on Def Jam Records.
He was in a red Ferrari. Justin had a passenger in the car Chantel Jeffries a model, who's dated multiple celebs including an NFL superstar. The traffic stop was for drag racing and cops determined he was driving under the influence. The photo (below) is Chantel the model who was in Justin's yellow Lambo -- and Justin.

Miley Cyrus‘ tongue of controversy.
As it turns out, it's almost a nervous tick for her.
In her chat with Barbara Walters as part of her Most Fascinating People of 2013 selection, Cyrus confessed, "I get embarrassed to take pictures. That's actually the truth. I'm so embarrassed because people are taking pictures of me and I don't know how to smile, and just be awkward, so I stick my tongue out, because I don't know what else to do."
So she deals with the discomfort of taking pictures by flashing her tongue and being silly. That's actually totally understandable. There's nothing worse for a celeb that has flashbulbs in her face constantly to have poor posture or a stiff stance in photos.
And it's not like she can hide behind a glossy curtain of hair anymore, either

“Jokes Should Have No Limit” – Basketmouth Speaks On Rape Joke Controversy
Read excerpts from the interview below...
On Rape Joke Controversy:
“Definitely I am sorry about what happened. The people that it offended…I won’t say the people that misunderstood but the people that it offended. It’s not like I left Nigeria because of that, I already booked my ticket since three months ago.
It limits me though. Now it limits the type of jokes I’m going to be cracking right now. Sadly, every joke hits people the wrong way. If I crack jokes about food, there are people in third world countries saying, ‘Why is he cracking jokes about food? Have I chop na?’ They will just go on twitter and say ‘This guy should stop cracking jokes about food, I haven’t eaten’.”
On topics that are off limits:
“No. If you’re a comedian, you have the power to crack jokes because the truth is humour has no limits. You can crack jokes about death, living, anything you want to crack jokes about.
Humour has its own education that sends a message. Everything is funny. Everything in life is funny, there is humour in everything that we do. Society actually structures one. For me, the only thing that limits me is if I go for a church event I won’t crack any joke that has any X in it. Then if I go for an event where everyone is drinking and drunk with their wives, I’m not going to be cracking jokes about Noah and Solomon, I have to crack a joke that suits them. I crack my jokes according to the audience. So that’s my limit. I limit myself according to the audience, but when it comes to jokes there shouldn’t be any limit. But because of the culture and everything, you have to respect the fact that people might find it offensive and just hold back.”
On people finding jokes offensive:
”The truth about jokes is no matter what type of joke you crack there are people in the audience that won’t find it funny. People get offended for different reasons. Wale Gates was telling me about a joke he cracked about his wife and how someone was upset and said, ‘Why would you crack a joke about your wife.’ And he said ‘Look, she’s my wife. If anyone is going to be upset, can you let her be upset?’ And she heard the joke before and she wasn’t upset. People take jokes in different ways, unfortunately everybody made it look like it’s the first joke that I’m cracking. I cracked a joke about “Two things involved” and it ended up being a positive angle and nobody talked about it. The only joke that people like that I’ve cracked right now is about me dying. I cracked a joke about my funeral and they loved it.”

Barcelona Becomes First Sports Team To Have 50 Million Facebook Fans (Forbes Magazine)
FC Barcelona has become the first sports franchise in the world to have over 50 million fans on Facebook and the Spanish soccer power also claims it now has one of the 30 most popular Facebook pages in the world.
The historic achievement comes after a 2013 in which Barcelona gained more than 11 million new fans. The foreign countries with the highest number of fans are Indonesia, with 4.7 million, Mexico (3.4), Brazil (2.5), the United States (2.1) and Turkey (1.7).
The number two team in the world on Facebook is Real Madrid. Barcelona's arch rival has over 47 million fans and its superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is tops among all athletes in the world with almost 69 million likes on Facebook.
The drive on social media has been part of a global strategy by Barcelona to expand its global brand. The growing popularity of the team has been underpinned by Lionel Messi, the game's top striker, who has led Barcelona to four first-place finishes in Spain's La Liga and two Champions League titles over the past five years. Messi has more than 52 million likes on Facebook.
