The Only Journalist with Access to Boko Haram

Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram, fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered' after security agencies began to mistake his in-depth reporting on the terrorist group as evidence of his closeness to them. He went underground for several weeks before finally fleeing Nigeria. Salkida was perhaps the only Nigerian journalist/civilian to have access to Boko Haram, and he said at the time that he'd turned down Boko Haram's many requests for him to publish exclusive interviews and materials for them.
Anyway according to new reports, the Nigerian government flew him back home a few weeks ago to negotiate with Boko Haram on their behalf, since he's the only civilian who has allegedly seen Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and come out alive. One, I was going for my friend's father's burial and it was me visiting the east for the first time and it was via a chattered bus (Young Shall Grow )to IMO state .

Two, my pastor's birthday(Poju Oyemade) was on that day . Happy birthday to him. God bless him abundantly.

Three, I lost my grandfather , PA Lamidi Oderinde (The Asiwaju of Sawonjo Land).

Now, let me take it bit by bit.
Paul told me the bus was leaving by 4am the previous day, and I was like 4am??? I hardly wake up by 5am. To cut short the long story, I woke up by 3am and when I looked at the mirror, I noticed my eyes were red, I would have passed for someone who had smoke some sticks of cigarette. I got ready and by 5am , Sunny called to check if I was ready. I joined them and we started arranging the load bit by bit. Something caught my attention, the women who were going with us had at least two type of luggage ; breakables and unbreakables . Expectedly, the men had only one bag, the unism was as if it was pre-planned. Well, I guess we know women love luggage, while men don't fancy it.

We got moving by 7am. Yes 7am. Were we not supposed to leave by 4am? Or in worst scenario by 5am? But to my dismay, two of the passengers who happened to be MEN delayed us . Even one of them's wife arrived before him. Strange I suppose? Expectedly we were agitated I was even saying if we stayed till 7am, I would abort the journey. At last, we got moving only after the driver had collected extra N5,000 because according to him, we had delayed and infringed upon the agreement we had and he wouldn't be able to come back that same day. Talking about the phrase ' Time na Money'. We experienced some traffic jam at Mile 2, Oshodi, Ojota, but suprisingly, Redemption Camp road was free.

On our way, before getting to Ore, a woman asked to do the ladies twice, which it added to the driver's frustrations. I noticed the FERMA workers ,Policemen, Road safety, Customs all along the road. To be candid , am not impressed with the express way, lots of pot holes, vehicles broken down and diversions. Shortly before getting to Ore, I received a call from my mother saying my Grandfather had just passed on that morning. he was 106 Years Old . Sigh, so many things ran through my mind , I prayed a short prayer for his soul and I called my dad,uncles and aunts to sympathize with them. May Grandpa's soul rest in peace.

Immediately we got to Ore, the rain began, but we journeyed still. As soon as we got to Edo state around past 11am, the story changed . Good tarred roads with covet and yellow lines drawn on the outer lane with a picture of Benita Okojie welcoming us to Edo state. Now I was getting a good impression. This reminded me of (but not as smooth as) the London to Manchester road. But we shall get there right?
And so we got to the famous Niger bridge entering towards Onitsha. Hence, we made way to IMO state. Along the way, I saw the Peugeot Plant that had been abondoned for years. This plant, assessing it ordinarily, would have created Jobs for thousands if harnessed well, but, sorry is the case.

Then came the famous Madonna University Okija. Okija is famous for its notoriety of shrines, rituals and human skulls (as reported then in the news), now its even more famous because of the successes of the Catholic university in the land. The journey (escursion in my case) went on till we got to Mbaise but along the road, I noticed WOMEN riding BIKES and their children behind Proudly. In this part of the world, Bikes is for women . Mbaise lga is a very big place. We passed Ezinhitte till we got to Ilu, already the driver was complaining bitterly that we would add extra money, but we didn't mind his complains. I asked myself, " If I took a drop to Festac, isn't it anywhere in festac that I will alight?" Why complain?

So we arrived at our destination, and were treated to a plate of Hot Eba and ogbono soup with vegetable. I slept in a pent house and the following morning, I was on my way back to Owerri.
In Owerri, i observed something rather statling. I noticed keke NAPEP(Trycicle) were more than cars and humans put together in the city. And an average drop is N200 . So I looked for a place to lodge . After IMSU (Imo State University), from wetheral road to the roundabout that has rockview to world bank to orji I saw hotels; Mavic, Prestige, and I settled for Castle stone. Did I mention there was Radisson too? Like my friend said, OWERRI is the land of hotels. Even the catholic church after firstbank along wetheral had a hotel. From Rockview to Mimi's to 40/40 to Concorde hotel to All season's hotel, I made sure I visited all those places.

Now I was runing late and I had to rush back for the burial . At the burial venue, we were asked to go round and look at the open coffin where the late man laid in. He looked fresh and pale but couldn't move. I was reminded that DEATH IS A DEBT we all owe. I made up more in my mind to strive more yet make life easy and simple.

After all said and done. OWERRI was the catch for me, As Fate would have it, my friend Bill was in Owerri . Bill made me comfortable than I would have imagined. Thanks to him for accomodating me. I would not have explored owerri were it for me alone. He stayed in a GRA where this man they called Nwazurike the MASSOB leader stays at Area H not far from Achike Udenwa's house. You see, this freedom fighters are not fighting for you but themselves (Just telling). Owerri's night life is BUZZ and BUBBLING, you don't want to ask for more, but remember to take your cash with you when you visit, that place will cost you.

T.I. took a swing at Floyd Mayweather Jr. and it caused a chair-tossing brawl in the Fatburger on the Vegas Strip early Sunday morning ... TMZ has learned ... and we've obtained multiple videos.

According to several witnesses ... Floyd was eating inside the restaurant when T.I. walked up and started jawing at Floyd.

It's unclear what caused the beef, but we're told T.I. swung at Floyd ... their giant bodyguards jumped in to separate them ... and then the all out melee began.

At one point you hear Floyd telling at T.I., "control your bitch."

Las Vegas PD arrived just as Floyd was leaving and we're told T.I. was already gone.

Police confirm a Fatburger employee was slashed and suffered a minor injury during the fight, but he refused treatment and did not want to cooperate with investigating officers. In other words ... no snitching.

A rep for T.I. had no comment about the fight.

Less than a month ago, T.I. and Game were in the middle of a near riot with LAPD officers outside Supperclub.

"ABORTION-Saga and Opinions"

Now, all the grammar has been constructed to clearly define this term. I was reading on nairaland recently where a dude posted a question on conversations bordering on abortion; asking his girlfriend whom he intends to settle down with, if she had ever had an ABORTION. For the sake of clarity, this is how he put it:

I finally met a girl that I intend to settle down with and I have made that intention clear to her, the thing is, I have certain standards that I want my wife to possess and I use a checklist to cross them out. Unfortunately these rules require probing personal questions. Basically, I asked her today if she has ever had abortion. And her response was "it's none of my business", "it's her body" and "I shouldn't be asking", she walked away mad without giving a response. Was it wrong to ask this question? Are there question/boundaries never to be crossed in a relationship?

He also noted that:

If her answer is yes- then it's over between us- we aren't married yet. And before you judge me, everyone has standards, whether it is moral, financial or physical, everyone does.

I believe she is aware of this outcome that is why she is refusing to respond.

Comments flew in left, right, up and down. First of all, what are standards? Standards are norms, conventions or requirements set by a body, company, institution or individuals. Now if an institution sets a cut off mark and some students intending to study there don't meet up, there is a chance that they would be dropped for those who did well, right? Now we are talking about one on one situation where you can lower your standards. For the purpose of clarity, THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS and I might not be RIGHT .

I believe I should be able to ask my woman anything or any question provided I would not judge her based on past experience. Now there would be or there comes a point in a relationship, especially with the aim of walking down the aisle, where it is important that the couple goes for counselling either in a place of worship or professional counsellors. The thing is it's rather easier and better to know the past of your spouse so that nothing comes as a surprise. I will rather let you be comfortable and free to the extent that you open up to me as my woman. I believe "Nobody is Holy" and imperfections are beautiful. Although, I have had my own share of bad experiences but I learned, and I am learning. I will love to know if she has had an abortion before, because nobody is above such mistakes, even me asking her, does she know if I have helped others have an abortion too? Which I haven't anyway; not that I am the sharpest in those situations. It's just that I have been lucky. What if she was raped and she had to abort? Or she was promised marriage and she had to abort when her ex pulled out? Or she was naive and she was taken advantage of? Or she was stupid, young and was in lust? Morally some would say its wrong, spiritually too, like wise some don't believe . Some would even say as long as its still in the blood level and the baby isn't formed yet. We can go on and on .

Now let me face the male species.

How many can say they haven't had wet dreams? Is that not the Outflow of sperm that turn into children wasted? How many can say they haven't masturbated before? How many can say they haven't watched porn before? How many can say they haven't flirted with another woman when they had theirs before? How many haven't kissed another woman while they had a girlfriend before? How many are still Male virgins? How many haven't been tempted? How many haven't been unfaithful? How many haven't lied? After all, is sin not sin? How many haven't given women advice or money for abortion? I can go on and on…

Hence my personal assertion and philosophy is:

"Nobody is Holy", if you are, cast the first stone. I'm not saying abortion is good but I'm just making us understand that the PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE make the whole package; there should be a balance else we'll just be circling the same spot. If not, please exit and let me be. Likewise if you cannot take her GARBAGE and her GOLD together, then let her leave. After all, we have very sharp variation in reason ability quotient between biological and adopted children which defiles whatever set rules we hang on to on blood being thicker than water because some adopted children do better than Biological ones .

To cut the story short, I WOULD TAKE HER AS SHE IS ' if she's the one for me because she 'would have' TAKEN ME AS I AM too.

The man who leaked the video of how Beyonce's sister, Solange, attacked her husband Jay-Z have been sacked by the hotel. But the funny thing is that the man has already made as much as $250,000 so he doesn't even need the low paying job in the hotel. lol!

Dr. Dre leapfrogged Jay Z in FORBES' latest rankings of hip-hop's richest artists, claiming the number two position as his net worth soared to an estimated $550 million. Now it looks like the Beats cofounder could lay claim to the top spot in a matter of days.

Late Thursday night, the Financial Times reported that Apple was in talks to buy Beats for $3.2 billion; the deal would be the computer giant's largest acquisition ever. Dre's stake in Beats currently stands at somewhere around 20-25%; we valued the company at $2 billion in our latest round of estimates.

A sale for $3.2 billion would nearly double the value of Dre's holdings, though capital gains taxes could take a bite out of his big payday, likely leaving him with a net worth in the neighborhood of $800 million. It's not quite enough to land on the Forbes 400, but it would easily make him hip-hop's richest man, topping current champion Diddy by $100 million.

"Beats has a unique brand—it speaks to a nice young demographic, which is really interesting to marketers," said Peter Csathy, former president of Musicmatch, an early digital music purveyor acquired by Yahoo in 2004 for $160 million. "When I think about Beats, I think about it as a lifestyle, I think of it as a media company, not just a hardware and music-focused company."

The value of that brand would also make a handful of other wealthy entrepreneurs even wealthier if the Apple deal goes through. Beats recently raised $60 million in funding from current investors including Dre, cofounder Jimmy Iovine and billionaire Len Blavatnik, via his company Access Industries.

A sale would also nix the possibility of a Beats IPO, which some speculated could be in the offing after the company hired chief financial officer An De Vooght, who spent 16 years in a similar role at Red Bull after stints at Sony and Price Waterhouse, in March.

Apple's Beats buyout is still not official, and could certainly fall through. In the meantime, though, Dre appears set to break new ground in the business of music yet again.

Here's What You Should Know About Abubakar Shekau, The Ruthless Leader Of Boko Haram

The name Abubakar Shekau may sound unfamiliar to those who are new to Nigerian politics, but the head of Boko Haram has been a terrifying fixture in West Africa for nearly half a decade. A shadowy figure, Shekau has a reputation for cheating death, escaping a mental asylum, and commanding a brutal insurrection against the government.

Shekau made headlines on Tuesday after a video emerged showing him railing against Christians and world leaders, while claiming responsibility for the abduction of more than 300 girl from a school in Northern Nigeria. The video has given a face to the terrorist group that has become the focus of international outrage, and the target of governments seeking the safe return of the abducted girls.

Boko Haram Before Shekau

Shekau took over the leadership of Boko Haram from its founder Mohammed Yusuf, a popular preacher who wanted to install an Islamist state in Nigeria's north. In 2009, growing tensions between Boko Haram forces and Nigerian troops led to a brutal crackdown by the government in which over 1,000 people were killed. In the aftermath, Nigerian police reportedly carried out a series of extra-judicial killings. Mohammed Yusuf was reportedly still in handcuffs when he was shot.

The Emergence Of Shekau

As the Council on Foreign Relations notes, Yusuf's death caused Boko Haram to splinter and further radicalize and its members began to carry out a number of suicide bombings and assassinations. Authorities initially thought Shekau had been killed in the crackdown, but the militant soon started to reappear in videos posted on the internet.

Around the time of Shekau's apparent resurrection Boko Haram began to expand its campaign of terror. No longer just targeting security forces in the north, the International Crisis Group explains, the group now also attacked "security forces, government officials and politicians, Christians, critical Muslim clerics, traditional leaders, the UN presence, bars and schools." The violent shift under Shekau, coupled with his Osama bin Laden-esque videos, gave the new leader a notorious and villainous presence, even while facts about the man himself remained sparse.

The Man Behind The Terror

Little is known about Shekau, and the few details that have been reported have often been clouded by rumors. As Alex Preston notes in British GQ, Shekau is for example rumored to have escaped from a Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital some time in the late nineties. A 2013 BBC profile of Shekau notes that the militant has not been seen in public since his alleged death, while a Nigerian journalist familiar with Shekau claimed the leader hardly talks, though "he is fearless."

Shekau has been speaking out in many videos released after attacks though, often cutting a swaggering, unhinged figure as he boasts of his exploits. It's part of a persona that the BBC describes as "part-intellectual, part-gangster," one that has led him to be "fondly called imam or leader by his followers." Shekau has styled himself as something of a spiritual leader, one whose legitimacy as commander is also based on his piety. His nickname is reportedly "Darul Tawheed," which the BBC translates to mean a specialist in a certain orthodox form of Islam.

As for specific biographical information, much remains opaque. The same profile reports that it's believed Shekau was born in northeast Nigeria, though it's unclear when, as "some say he is 35 or 36, others that he may be 44.

How Much Power Does He Wield?

Shekau's hidden location and isolated status has led analysts from ICG to believe that the chief probably has little daily control over cells. Echoing that analysis, the BBC reports that it appears Shekau does not communicate directly with the group's foot soldiers but wields his power through a few select cell leaders. This type of networked structure, with few points of contact to the highest echelons, can be very hard to track down. It's notably a similar structure to the one of al-Qaeda, to which Shekau and Boko Haram are believed to have loose ties.

According to a U.S. Homeland Security report from 2013, Shekau has been as quick to violently quell dissent from within Boko Haram as he is from outside the group. The document cites a captured spokesman who relayed a story of how under the command of Shekau, "several of our members who denounced the violent struggle were slaughtered in front of their wives and children."

Furthermore, as Hayes Brown reports in his excellent piece at Think Progress, some experts claim that the Nigerian government's heavy handedness in combatting Boko Haram has had the opposite of the intended affect. Over the past few years the group has begun to operate with practical impunity in the country's northern regions and Shekau has remained in power, despite the U.S. having placing a $7 million dollar bounty on Shekau's head back in 2012.

Abubakar Shekau's rising profile and new notoriety may be, as Think Progress notes, something that he has aimed for since his takeover of the group, but as the world increasingly demands action it may also be his undoing.

NFF announces 30 man list for World cup

NFF, on Tuesday announced Nigeria's provisional 30-man list for the FIFA 2014 World Cup.

The list, submitted by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, was read on Tuesday evening by a member of the Technical Committee of the NFF, Paul Bassey.



Some the players who made the list include Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Vincent Enyeama, Sunday Mba, and Ahmed Musa; all of whom were in the Nigerian side that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

Apart from the regulars, players who had hitherto fallen out with Keshi also made the list. These include Osaze Odemwingie and Joseph Yobo.

The invited players will resume camp on May 26 before a final list of 23 players will be selected for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Stiviano to DuJour Magazine.  The mag claims Sterling is not done talking -- and has already lined up interviews with Barbara Walters and the NBA. Though it's unclear when he plans to talk to them. As for the comment itself -- it just shows that he doesn't think he's racist or said anything wrong ... and the only thing he seemingly regrets is that the audio got out.

Pokello, who wasn't expecting the very public proposal, said later that it made her go numb.

Another Deadly Bomb Blast in Abuja

A blast on the outskirts of Nigeria's capital Abuja killed several people on Thursday, witnesses and hospital sources have said.

The car bomb hit the suburb of Nyanya close to the site of a morning rush hour bomb attack at a bus station on April 14 that killed at least 75 people.

A correspondent from the AFP news agency reported seeing nine bodies that had been brought from scene of the attack, while a witness at the same hospital who requested anonymity reportedly confirmed that seven other corpses had arrived.

A hospital worker said he counted at least nine bodies ferried by ambulance to Asokoro General Hospital, according to the Associated Press news agency.

Deafening explosion

"There was a loud blast then a ball of fire," witness Lateef Adebayo told Reuters news agency by telephone. "There were many dead bodies and ambulances were rushing there."

Another witness, Joe Udofia, said there was a "deafening explosion, then the area near Nyanya Bridge was on fire. There were many people in the vicinity," he added.

Religiously conservative armed group Boko Haram, which is waging an insurgency against the government to carve out an Islamic administration in Africa's largest oil producer country, claimed responsibility for the April 14 blast in Nyanya and threatened further attacks.

The blast came a week before Abuja was due to host the World Economic Forum on Africa, an annual gathering which brings together international leaders, policy makers and entrepreneurs.

Nigeria's government had announced a big security operation to protect the capital during the forum.

He realized he shouldn't have posted Shantel's ultrasound results along with a message announcing that she had an abortion . but he just couldn't control his emotions. Floyd has since pulled the posts down.
