The couple began dating three years ago.
The duo was all smiles at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Aug. 24, wearing matching white ensembles and being affectionate on the red carpet and in the audience.
"They were loving each other's company as they sat in the front row and danced together, " an eyewitness says.
But recently Derulo, 25, has been spotted without Sparks, first at a boys' night with Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx, Robin Thicke and Diddy for his friend Richie Akiva's birthday at 1OAK. A few days later, he posted a photo on Instagram celebrating his Sept. 21 birthday with Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg.
To add to the speculation, on Sept. 15, Sparks, 24, Tweeted, "I just wrote the saddest song of my life."
